Don't let the Summer Slide get you Down!

Students spend an average of 180 days in school and those three months of summer are notorious for slowing down an elementary student’s performance when they return to school. Research shows that reading during the summer will sharpen a student's skills and bridge learning gaps between each school year. While fostering a lifelong love for reading!

The summer reading program is for children in elementary school grades K-5. This event is free and each year we have a new theme with a fun challenge! The 2016 summer reading theme is Superheroes! This year we will be teaming up with Pop Culture Classroom (http://popcultureclassroom.org) to create the best summer reading program yet!

There are over 24 summer reading events, including "Eat Lunch in the library" and "Pop Culture Classroom." Each Pop Culture event will have food, reading, crafts and a fun interactive and educational experience for your child! Take a look at the Pop Culture website to see the type of events they do!
